QuackFight

A turn-based artillery duel where you tilt to aim and shout to throw.

Challenge

Artillery games live and die on their controls, and touchscreen sliders are nobody's idea of fun. Our team of five at Apple Developer Academy wanted a duel that casual players and students could pick up instantly — played with the phone itself, not buttons on glass.

Approach

We built the game in SpriteKit with GameplayKit, mapping CoreMotion tilt to the aim angle and microphone input to throw power — you literally shout to fire. GameKit powers online matches, local play shares one device, and UIKit haptics with AVFoundation audio sell every hit.

Result

QuackFight shipped to external TestFlight as a complete local and online multiplayer experience — turn timers, health, and limited skills included — and the tilt-and-shout controls became the first thing every playtester talked about.
