Koda
Rethinking a banking app around moments of money anxiety.
Challenge
A challenger bank's data showed users checking balances eight times a day but abandoning transfers midway. Research pointed at anxiety: the interface shouted numbers at people who were already stressed about them.
Approach
I ran diary studies with 24 users, then redesigned the core flows around progressive disclosure — calm summaries first, detail on demand, and confirmation patterns that explain consequences in plain language before any irreversible action.
Result
Transfer completion rose 28% and support tickets about failed payments halved. The calm-balance pattern I designed was later adopted across their marketing site and became part of their brand story.
